“I was diagnosed by basic lab work, and found that I had an elevated protein level- further testing confirmed asymptomatic myeloma, eventually leading to active multiple myeloma. ⁠
⁠
I’m now in remission and I’m happy but I tell many -it’s still the unknown. I think I have some control and recourse but my body is my twin, and we both work with each other nicely or not. ⁠
⁠
I still cope with bone and joint pain, and educating doctors on my history (for those new) and deciphering between normal age-related pain or remnant of a harsh past myeloma med. treatment; it’s because of this I must constantly push my advocacy because sometimes folks can get lax or not tune in to what I’m telling them. ⁠
⁠
It may seem like being over-paranoid, but someone has got to do it because some doctors just don’t take the time to understand the patient.⁠
⁠
The most important lesson I’ve learned is the latter- self-advocacy is key! I think many have grown to believe the doctor can pick up all issues. ⁠
⁠
I now know differently…just because the conclusion seems like a green light with the doctor’s summary, well it doesn’t stop the pain or discomfort that my body may be going through. ⁠
⁠
I’ve learned I have to push and push for them to test further and figure it out I’m not feeling well just because, and sometimes we have to stress this and be extra vocal rather compliant with what little is being done to figure it all out.⁠

I would say what my condition has taught me is the strength that I’ve acquired in my life, is not a thing to look down at. I know many people are not there, or may never get there. ⁠

I know that my faith is part of educating me in showing me that my story is not about me but being a ray of hope for the many who are trying to find their way through this. It is an honor to serve, hope, share, and survive together!”

March 1st marks 4 years since my mom’s passing. 💜✨

Today, I’m honoring her life and legacy by sharing who she was—beyond her cancer diagnosis.

My mom was STRONG, FIERCE & RESILIENT—a mother of two who never backed down from a challenge. She was kind, hilarious, and a friend to so many. 💖

She embodied everything a true diva is, so it was no surprise when she coined the name “Chemo Diva” as soon as she was diagnosed. 👑

And just like my superhero momma, every patient & survivor watching this was a diva before cancer—and will continue to be one despite it all. 💪🏾✨

"My name is Nina. I am a 36 years old Triple Negative Metastatic (Stage 4) Cancer patient. ⁠
⁠
I was diagnosed in February 2023 following a trip to the ER from a seizure from a metastasized tumor in my brain. Breast cancer does not run in my family. ⁠
⁠
My entire world shifted from that moment forward. Since early last year I have been through 20 radiation treatments to my brain and breast, 4 different lines of chemotherapy and quite recently I have been on immunotherapy and I have had to have cyber-knife radiation a total of 4 different times due to different metastasis occurrences. ⁠
⁠
I have been unable to work since my diagnosis. Some day-to-day tasks are a struggle because of how sick treatment makes me. Some days are better than others. The side effects range from body aches, diarrhea, nausea, hair loss. My 71 year old retired mother chose to get a part time job to help me as much as she can financially but I do not want to put the burden on her. ⁠

It has been so hard going from the girl who could come and go as she pleases, was the life of the party and a social butterfly to this. ⁠
⁠
There are a lot of things people don't understand about this diagnosis unless they have personally been through it themselves. ⁠
⁠
My emotions range daily from hopeful to sadness to anger to resentment to powerful. ⁠
⁠
I do feel deep down I am going to beat this so I always try (although it's hard) to be optimistic. ⁠
⁠
When I do beat it, my goal is to educate other young females / younger middle-aged females about breast cancer. "

I was diagnosed with stage 3 non Hodgkin’s lymphoma after many ER trips due to pelvic pain. ⁠
⁠
I am currently undergoing R EPOCH chemo and immunotherapy. ⁠
⁠
The largest obstacle I’m facing during treatment is my inability to work. ⁠
⁠
I have an amazing support system in my family, friends, and community. ⁠
⁠
The Bible verse that gets me through these trying times is "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

"My name is Nathalie Delpeche. I was diagnosed with a Malignant Phyllodes Tumor in July 2023. Phyllodes tumors are rare and make up fewer than 1% of all breast tumors. They occur in the connective tissue and are treated as a sarcoma. ⁠
⁠I discovered a lump in April 2023 for which I had diagnostic imaging which confirmed it was benign. Several weeks later another lump appeared and I was sent for more testing. A biopsy done in late July revealed the MPT. It grew very aggressively so I had a mastectomy on Aug 10. ⁠
⁠
I had begun doing CTDNA testing as a form of monitoring in October 2023. A PET scan in Nov 2023 was normal. The second CTDNA test in January 2024 came back positive. Follow up PET scan in Feb 2024 confirmed metastasis to my lungs and spine. I had been asymptomatic so I am grateful for biomarker testing. ⁠
⁠
I found an oncologist at Duke who was doing a rare breast tumor study and had a particular focus in Phyllodes tumors. I traveled back and forth to Duke from NY and completed the max number of rounds of AIM chemotherapy in August 2024. I had surgery on both my lungs in June and also had 1 treatment of radiation to my spine in August. ⁠

During my last round of chemo, a CT scan showed cancer had returned to my lungs. ⁠
⁠
I began a Phase 1 clinical trial targeting a mutation of my tumor on Sept 30, 2024 and am prayerful this will help manage my cancer. ⁠
⁠
Due to the rarity of this tumor it was difficult to find community and resources. It felt very lonely at times. But, social media, Google searches and just talking to people helps keep me encouraged and inspired. "

It is often said that God assigns His most difficult struggles to His strongest warriors. However, the impact of this news led me to confront some challenging emotions. After coming to terms with the news, I reverted to my usual routine.⁠

Unforeseen changes were reshaping my existence. While a chapter of my life was closing, I recognized that my journey was far from conclusion!⁠

Having endured 5 months of aggressive chemotherapy, consisting of 4 biweekly and 12 weekly treatments, I am now flooded with emotions as this chapter concludes. This period has seemingly brought time to a standstill.⁠

These last 5 months have presented considerable mental and physical difficulties for me, yet my faith remains unwavering. While the road to recovery is lengthy, I remain committed to persevering and staying resilient while on this journey.⁠
